REGION II & III TOURNAMENT BYLAWS
HOCKEY GREAT LAND CONFERENCE

ARTICLE X: BYLAWS
Section 1: Governing Rules
Hockey competition in Great Land conference will follow the guidelines established by the National Federation of High School Association Hockey Rule Book and all applicable rules and regulations established by ASAA and the Great Land conference.
Exception: In Tournament play, the highest seeded team always has the right to make the last line change (this replaces the automatic “top of the bracket”.)
Section 2: Scheduling
All participating member schools must compete within the designated Great Land conference district. All teams schedules must consists of a home-home schedule or both home every other year’ unless the game is cancelled due to weather and other circumstances beyond the control of the school(s).
Beginning with the 2006-07 season, Great Land Hockey will divide into a North and South Division for the hockey regular season as follows:
North: Delta, Hutchison, Monroe, Tri-Valley
South: Kenny Lake, Glennallen, Houston, Nikiski, Su Valley
Point System:
If a team plays 1 time it’s worth 4 points, 2 times are 2 points each, a tie will be worth 1 point.
Section 3: Tournament Bracketing
Teams will be seeded according to the following criteria in this priority order:
1. Conference Points
2. Regular season Head to Head competition
3. Common 4A Opponents (first game only counts)
4. Fewest goals scored against teams that are tied in conference games only.
5. Toss a coin.
Note: The higher seeded team in each contest will be awarded all privileges normally assumed by the Home team, including the “last change” and traditional home uniform color.
Bracketing will be split into two level as follows:
Pool A #1 North playing #4 South and #3 North Playing #2 South
Pool B #1 South playing #4 North and #3 South Playing #2 North
The Higher Seed will host the lower seed the last week of the season.
State Tournament Seeding will be as follows:
Pool A in the top bracket
Pool B in the bottom bracket
Section 4: Officials
League
All officials need to be certified with A.S.A.A and we must use at least 3 officials per game unless agreed upon before the contest. All attempts must be made to bring in at least one outside official.
Section 5: Trophies/Awards
Trophies and awards will be purchased by Region III and the costs shared by the teams involved. There will be a team award for 1st place and 20 individual medals for first place team members as well as 11 medals for all conference players and one MVP plaque award.
A. “Coach of the Year” award will be voted by the coaches at the coaches meeting. Prior to the tournament, nominations may be submitted in writing to the tournament director. Each school’s head coach or his/her designee shall have one vote.
Section 10: All Conference Team Selection
A. Prior to the start of the region tournament, each head coach shall submit the names of players for consideration of an All Conference team in the following manner:
1. Teams seeded first and second in the region will get 5 nominations.
2. Teams seeded third and fourth will get 3 nominations.
3. All other teams will get 2 nominations for a total of 22 names.
C. Results of the voting will determine the top voter getter who will receive the MVP
D. The Host school will supervise the voting and counting of ballots.
Section 11: Weather
No game will be played if the temperature is -20 degrees with or without the wind-chill. If a game is in progress and the temperature falls below -20 degrees, the game will be called. If 2 periods have been completed we will consider it a complete game. If 2 periods have not been completed we have no contest.
