TOURNAMENT HANDBOOK

I.                   Region Responsibilities:

 

A.   Determine site and date of Regional Tournament at the spring meeting.

 

B.    Order awards from vendor determined by Region II.

Awards include:

1.     First and second place team trophies.

2.     Team sportsmanship award.

3.     All Tournament Team medallions. Ten players, at least four of which have to be girls.

4.     One Most Valuable Player

5.     Twelve first place medals

 

 

II.                Host School Responsibilities:

 

A.   Provide playing fields and officials including any necessary equipment for the operation of the tournament.

 

B.    Purchase awards from vendor determined by Region II.

Awards include:

1.     First and second place team trophies.

2.     Team sportsmanship award.

3.     All Tournament Team medallions. Ten players, at least four of which have to be girls.

4.     One Most Valuable Player

5.     Twelve first place medals

 

 

C.   Assist with sleeping facilities and food for visiting teams.

 

 

D.   Select a Rules Committee or Board of Control.

 

E.    Rules.

1.      Team rosters are limited to 22 players. There can be no more than seven boys on the field per team at any time. If a team has fewer than four girls, they can play down up to two players before forfeiting.

2.      The tournament will be a single elimination with first day winners competing in the “championship bracket” and first day losers in the “consolation bracket”.  If there are less than eight teams competing, the top seeds will be given a bye and not play on the first day of tournament (Thursday).  All teams will play at least two games.

3.      NFHS tiebreaker procedures would be used if needed. Officials will use the NF card system. Any player, coach, or bench personnel shall be ejected for 1 red card or disqualified for two yellow cards in a single contest. A player or coach receiving a red card must sit out the next game. A player or coach receiving two yellow cards does not have to sit out the next game.

 

 

 

F.    Select tournament director.

 

1.     Responsible for seeding and bracketing. Seeding will be based on the winning percentage of games between Region II schools.

 

A.    Tie Breaker 

a.            Head to head competition.

b.           If there is still a tie Region II seeding committee will make the final decision.

 

2.     Directs awards ceremony at the end of the tournament.

 

 

G.   Notify all schools participating in Region II coed soccer.

 

1.     A letter should be sent early in the season identifying the tournament date, site, and availability of meals or housing.

2.     Tournament fees.

 

H.   Request pertinent information from participating schools.

 

1.     Intent to participate

2.     Team roster.

3.     Academic information (G.P.A. as of prior semester)

4.     Won – loss record.

 

I.       Provide a tournament financial statement to the participants and Region II executive officers within 30 days after the tournament.
